About this Recipe

A staple in most global cuisines. This is the way I like to make my rice, very simple and tasty!

Ingredients
- 1 cup white rice (long grain)
- 2 cups water
- 1 cube chicken bouillon
- 1/2 tbsp olive oil
In South America we use the standard long grain white rice. The varieties of rice out there require a different rice to water ration, so if you are using calrose, brown, wild or other types of rice, just double check what ratio of water is used to cook that rice. You can replace the chicken bouillon with vegetable bouillon if you want to make this a vegetarian friendly version.
Step by Step Instructions
Step 1
Measure one cup of white rice and wash it under cold water until you see that the water is clear. This step gets rid of dusty starches that may result in excess stickiness.
Step 2
Add 2 cups of water and place the rice on the stove on medium temperature.
Step 3
Melt the bouillon cube in a small amount of water in the microwave (20 sec should be enough). Add the mixture and the olive oil to the rice pot and stir.
Step 4
Once the water has been mostly absorbed, cover the pot and turn down the heat to low. Cook for about 18 minutes, you can always check doneness by tasting it with a fork to get your desired cook level. If you think it is still a little hard, you can continue to cook it for a few more minutes until you are satisfied.
Step 5
Fluff with a fork before serving, and enjoy the noms!
